Product overview
What You're Actually Buying
This is a shielded (SFTP-style), 26AWG copper Ethernet patch cable sold in a wide range of lengths from about 1.5FT up to 100FT, with the 6FT length being the shortest common size in the line. It ships with gold-plated, shielded RJ45 connectors, a UV-resistant PVC jacket marketed for indoor and outdoor use, and manufacturer claims of backward compatibility with Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Cat7 equipment via the same RJ45 connector standard.
Some honest context on the Cat 8 category itself matters here: the official ANSI/TIA-568-C.2-1 Category 8 standard specifies a short, 30-meter (about 100ft) channel using shielded twisted-pair construction, rated up to 2000MHz and 40Gbps, and per independent cabling-industry sources (Fluke Networks, Cabling Installation & Maintenance) it was designed primarily for short switch-to-switch data center links, not home networking. There is no unshielded Cat 8 variant, and Cat 8's rigidity and cost make it 'overkill' for typical home or office use, where Cat6a is generally considered sufficient.
That matters for a buying decision because almost no consumer router, PC network card, or gaming console supports anything faster than 1 Gigabit Ethernet (and 2.5GbE is still uncommon), so a Cat 8-rated cable in a typical home setup will simply perform like a well-built, well-shielded gigabit cable rather than unlocking any real speed advantage. The extra shielding may still be worthwhile for reducing electromagnetic interference in noisy environments, but it isn't a throughput upgrade for most buyers.
On evidence quality: we found the manufacturer's own product listing, a YouTube hands-on video, and a couple of consumer review-style write-ups (Electronikz) describing the cable as solidly built with a noticeably thicker, more rigid feel than typical flat Cat6 cables, and working reliably at gigabit speeds. We did not find any independent, lab-based certification test (the kind performed by dedicated cable-testing equipment) verifying that this specific Vabogu cable actually meets the full Cat 8/2000MHz spec — this is a known gap across most budget consumer 'Cat 8' cables generally, not a claim we can confirm or debunk for this SKU specifically.
We also did not find a pattern of complaints in our research suggesting the cable fails to work as a well-made shielded patch cable — the concern here isn't reliability, it's simply that the headline Cat 8 rating is unverified by any third party and, for the vast majority of buyers, unusable regardless.
