The (first) Fighters Pass, which unlocks additional downloadable challenger characters as they release/are available

Delivered as a single digital download code rather than a physical cartridge

Does not include the separate Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which was sold independently

What Owners Report

Recurring themes synthesized from the linked owner-review sources. These are reported experiences, not TopFiveFind test results.

Strong value bundle

Buyers commonly note that bundling the base game with the Fighters Pass is more cost-effective than purchasing the game and each character pack individually.

Roster confusion

A recurring point of confusion in this category is buyers assuming a 'Fighter Pass' purchase includes the later Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters, which is a separate purchase.

Long-lasting game

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is widely regarded as having strong replay value and a large roster, which owners frequently cite as a reason it holds up years after release.

Digital-only downsides

Some buyers who prefer physical collections note the lack of a cartridge or box as a drawback versus a retail copy.

Good fit for

Good fit for new Nintendo Switch owners who don't yet own Smash Bros. Ultimate at all
Good fit for players who want the expanded original DLC roster without buying characters individually
Not a fit for existing owners of the base game only looking to add just the Fighters Pass
Not a fit for those expecting the newer Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters included
Good for local multiplayer and party-game households given Smash's four-player couch play

Check before buying

Confirm you don't already own the base game or Fighters Pass separately to avoid duplicate purchase
Verify this bundle covers the original Fighters Pass and not the separately sold Fighters Pass Vol. 2
Check available Switch storage space, since the base game plus DLC requires a meaningful amount of storage
Confirm the digital code region matches your Nintendo eShop account
Review Amazon's digital code refund policy before purchase, as digital codes are generally non-refundable once redeemed
