Product overview
Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro: What to Know
The BOV900BSS is meaningfully different in category from the other four products in this guide: it's roughly 1 cubic foot of interior oven space rather than a pull-out basket, built around Breville's Element IQ system of six independently controlled quartz heating elements plus PID temperature control. Breville's own product page lists 13 distinct functions, more than double the function count of any basket fryer in this comparison, and a top temperature of 480F.
Because it's oven-format, capacity isn't measured in quarts the way basket fryers are -- Breville describes it as large enough to toast 9 slices of bread or roast a 14-lb turkey. It ships with a fuller accessory set than any basket fryer: a 13-inch pizza pan, two oven racks, a 9x13 broil rack with enamel roasting pan, and a dedicated mesh rack for air frying and dehydrating.
The tradeoff is size and weight. At roughly 21.4 inches wide, 17.3 inches deep, and an estimated 39 lb, it needs meaningfully more counter space and cabinet clearance than any of the basket-style units here, and it's worth noting Breville also sells a smaller, cheaper non-Pro Smart Oven Air Fryer (the BOV860 series) that's easy to confuse with this model by name alone.
