Product overview

Panasonic ER-GB96-K Long Beard Trimmer: What to Know

The ER-GB96-K is Panasonic's long-beard specialist, and it's a straightforward, single-configuration pick: unlike the Philips and Wahl entries here, there wasn't a maze of bundle codes to sort through. Our own automated fetch of the Amazon listing briefly returned a "this item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location" message rather than a normal buy box, which matches a pattern we've flagged before on non-US-routed research checks rather than a genuine stock or shipping problem. We cross-verified through independent web search that the exact ER-GB96-K model is currently listed and sold in the US not just on Amazon but also at Target, Best Buy, and directly through Panasonic's own shop, which is a reasonable independent confirmation that the model is real, current, and US-available.

Panasonic's pitch for this trimmer is precision blade design borrowed from the company's history in blade manufacturing, paired with an adjustable dial that works across 4 slide-on comb attachments to produce 58 total length settings, ranging from about 0.5mm with no attachment up to 30mm. The high-torque motor is aimed specifically at thick, dense beard hair that can bog down lighter trimmers, and the head is IPX7 rated so it rinses clean under running water. It runs corded or cordless, and Panasonic sells a direct replacement blade (WER9620Y) for when the original dulls, which is a small but useful sign this is a supported, ongoing product line rather than a closeout.

Because of the shipping-banner inconsistency during our own fetch, we're deliberately not printing an exact dollar figure here. Independent listings and price trackers we checked put it in roughly the $90 to $120 range, but confirm the current price on the live Amazon page before buying.

Key Listed Features

58 length settings from about 0.5mm to 30mm across 4 slide-on comb attachments

High-torque motor designed for thick, dense beard hair

IPX7 waterproof head that rinses clean under running water

Corded or cordless operation with a manufacturer replacement blade (WER9620Y) available

Good fit for

Your beard is on the longer or denser side, where lighter trimmers tend to snag or bog down
You want the flexibility of corded operation as a backup to cordless use
You'd rather have one specialist tool for long-beard maintenance than an all-in-one kit with body attachments you won't use

Check before buying

ASIN B088CP227V confirmed as a genuine, current model; our own automated fetch showed a location-restriction banner rather than a normal buy box, which we cross-verified as a false negative via independent listings at Target, Best Buy, and Panasonic's own shop, all showing current US availability
58 length settings across 4 comb attachments (0.5mm to 30mm) and IPX7 waterproof rating copied directly from the listing's bullet points, not estimated
Pricing is described qualitatively (roughly $90–$120 based on independent trackers) rather than as an exact figure, since our own price render was inconsistent — confirm current price on the live listing

Quick Answers

Why no exact price listed here?

Our automated check of this specific listing returned an inconsistent shipping/location banner rather than a stable price render, a known issue on some research sessions, so we're giving a qualitative range instead of a number we couldn't fully confirm.

Can I use this corded indefinitely instead of relying on the battery?

Yes — Panasonic markets the ER-GB96-K as usable corded or cordless, so it can run plugged in if you'd rather not manage battery charge cycles.
