DK177 Absorbent Pet Feeding Mat with Waterproof Backing

By DK177

9.6Excellent matchFeature and use-case score

The DK177 mat is a straightforward absorbent placemat with a rubber backing — useful, but there's little independent testing behind it, so most of what you're buying on is the listing's own description.

Absorbent top layer designed to soak up spilled water and dropped food
Waterproof rubber backing intended to protect flooring underneath
Non-slip design meant to keep the mat in place under bowls

Product overview

What the research shows

DK177's Pet Feeding Mat is positioned as a spill-catcher for food and water bowls: an absorbent top layer meant to soak up splashed water and dropped kibble, paired with a waterproof rubber backing intended to keep moisture from reaching the floor underneath. This specific ASIN is the 20x12-inch 'Striped Dark Gray' variant, though DK177 sells the same basic mat in several other sizes and colors under the same product title.

The category context is worth noting: dog and cat feeding mats are a crowded, mostly undifferentiated segment on Amazon, with dozens of similar-looking private-label mats competing mainly on price and print. DK177 sits in the middle of that field rather than standing out with a patented material or a name-brand pedigree.

We did not find any independent lab test, veterinary review, or major review outlet (Wirecutter, The Spruce Pets, etc.) that has specifically evaluated this mat or this brand. The available information comes from the Amazon listing itself, DK177's other size/color listings, and Amazon's own 'Best Sellers in Dog Feeding Mats' category, where this mat appears but is not the top-ranked option.

Because feeding mats are a low-complexity product — essentially a rubber-backed absorbent pad — the main practical risks are less about performance and more about ordering the wrong variant (DK177 lists multiple sizes and colors under near-identical titles), or being surprised by rubber-backing thickness, texture, or a new-product smell that isn't detailed in the listing photos.

Owner feedback we could find for this general style of mat (rubber-backed absorbent placemat) tends to mention that it holds position well on smooth floors, wipes or machine-washes reasonably easily, and does what it says for everyday spill catching — but we could not confirm that feedback maps specifically and exclusively to this DK177 ASIN rather than to similar-looking competing mats, so we're not presenting it as verified DK177-specific praise.

Bottom line: this is a low-risk, low-cost functional purchase rather than a product with a track record of independent scrutiny. If the basic feature set (absorbent top, waterproof rubber backing, non-slip) matches what you need, it's a reasonable pick — just go in knowing you're relying on the seller's description more than outside verification.

Good fit for

Good fit if you just need an inexpensive way to catch everyday food and water spills under a bowl.
Reasonable for smooth hard flooring (tile, hardwood, laminate) where a non-slip rubber backing matters most.
Less ideal if you want a mat with independently verified durability or odor-control performance, since none is documented for this brand.

Check before buying

Confirm you're selecting the exact size and color you want — DK177 sells several dimensions (20x12in up to 27x17in) under very similar listing titles.
Check the washing instructions on the specific listing (hand wash vs. machine wash) before your first use.
Look at recent buyer photos to judge actual rubber-backing thickness and texture, since that's not fully detailed in the main listing copy.
If floor protection is your main goal, verify the mat's footprint is large enough for your specific bowl or bowl set, including any splash radius.

Buying questions

Quick Answers

Is this mat machine washable?

The listing markets it as easy to clean, but exact wash instructions vary by size/color variant, so check the specific listing you're ordering before assuming machine-wash safety.

Does it actually stop water from reaching the floor?

It's built with a waterproof rubber backing intended to block moisture, which is standard for this style of mat, but we found no independent lab test confirming performance versus competing brands.

Will it slide around on tile or hardwood?

The rubber backing is designed to grip smooth flooring and reduce sliding, per the listing description; we didn't find independent slip-resistance testing to verify this claim.

Is DK177 a well-known pet brand?

No — it's a smaller private-label brand primarily selling this feeding mat in various sizes and colors, without the review pedigree of larger pet-supply brands.

What size should I get for two bowls side by side?

Check the mat's exact dimensions against your bowls' combined footprint before ordering, since DK177 offers this mat from 20x12in up to 27x17in.
